Remembering a Legend


Big Pun Memorial is one of the most iconic murals in the Bronx. Originally created by Tats Cru as a tribute homage to the late, Puerto Rican hip-hop artist.Due to health complications, Big Pun passed in February of the year 2000. Every year on November 10, the mural is renovated in order to pay homage to Pun on his birthday.

Big Pun short for “Big Punisher”, the American rapper who rose to stardom as the first Latino rapper certified platinum as a solo act. His debut album went A true figure who showed his community that anything is possible with determination and hard work. He first began to write in the mid-80’s and the producing music with his original crew, Full-A-Clips. Pun did not get his first big break until he met Fat Joe and debuted commercially on Joe’s debut album Jealous One’s Envy.
